April 1, 2015
Wow! One year already…and in actuality eight-years! How time flies!
This Thursday, April 2th, marks the one-year anniversary of our Grains of Sense® Coffee Roastery, Tea Gallery & Café located inside the Lynchburg Community Market. To celebrate, recognize and thank you for your support, this Saturday, April 4th, you can enjoy a 12 oz. cup of our fresh-roasted and freshly-brewed coffee for only $1.00 – that is including tax!
Having launched this adventure in the Shenandoah Valley in 2008, this April we also celebrate our eighth-year, roasting and selling, exclusively, our Grains of Sense® coffees, and our fifth, full-year offering our hand-blended and hand-flavored, Grains of Sense® teas. This year, 2015, also marks our second year as full-time residents of Lynchburg, and our second year as a vendor at the Lynchburg Community Market having been selling our coffees and teas in the main, crafter’s area since November 2013, after having moved our family to Lynchburg for our children to attend Lynchburg Christian Academy. [breathe now] Clearly, life and business can be a whirlwind at times!
In addition to giving all of the credit to God for His inspiration and blessings, and without whom we wouldn’t be doing this, we also need to thank our many, many, loyal customers:
- The Harrisonburg, Lexington and Staunton farmers
markets where we first got our start – Harrisonburg, especially, where we were
a vendor for more than five years
- Of course, the Lynchburg Community Market who
has been welcoming and supportive and quickly allowed us to feel at home
- Our many loyal wholesale customers in the
Shenandoah Valley; The By & By Café (formerly Coffee on The Corner), The
Local Chop & Grill House, Bella Luna Pizza Oven, The Purple Foot, The Split
Banana, and The Pampered Pallet, The Friendly City Food Co-op, Sue’s Super
Nutrition, and The Stanley Meat Market - some whom we have had the privilege of
serving for as many as 5 years or more.
- Locally in Lynchburg, and more recently, we have
also welcomed Cao Artisan Chocolates, Rivermont Pizza and The Steamy Kibbutz to
our wholesale family.
We would also be remiss in thanking those of you have continued to support us through purchasing our coffee on-line through our website – some from as far away as California and, even, Australia! J I am humbled.
Since our inception, Grains of Sense has tried and stayed true to the two founding principles of sourcing, roasting and selling, only, coffees that are:
- Fair Trade Certified, and,
- Coffees that are sustainably grown and/or Rain
Forest Alliance Certified.
Through offering certified coffees such as these, we feel we are doing our part to help protect the earth and our environment, and more importantly, help serve and protect the people, the families and the communities who are directly involved in the growing and harvesting of the coffees we roast and sell.
Again, thank you! We hope to continue to have the privilege to serve you, soon.
